Military Binoculars – For Quality, Durability & Reliability

military_binoculars

There are a lot of uses for military binoculars. They are very handy to have in combat situations, when conducting reconnaissance missions, surveillance, search and rescue and more. Binoculars that are designed for military and law enforcement applications need to have high quality optics but also be incredibly durable.

Military binoculars must be able to withstand an incredible amount of abuse. They’re going to get wet, they’re going to get dirty and they’re going to get banged up and they still need to be able to function properly. Because military binoculars must be rugged and durable they’re also very popular with hunters, backpackers, boaters and anyone that spends a lot of time outdoors.

Waterproof

When shopping for military binoculars you will find that they are designed to be waterproof which is very important because if moisture is able to make its way inside the binoculars they will fog up. If your binoculars fog up and you are not able to use them this could have life and death consequences in military and/or law enforcement applications so it is critical that they be watertight. Military binoculars will normally have a rubberized grip that is slip proof because if you are using them in wet conditions you want to have a sure grip and not drop them. If you do drop them most military grade binoculars are also shock resistant and many models can withstand forces up to 20g.

High Quality Optics

In addition to being waterproof and incredibly durable it is also important for military binoculars to have high quality optics. Having sufficient magnification, good depth of field and the ability to see images well even in low light conditions is very important. To provide a good field of view and let a lot of light in for optimal use in low light conditions military binoculars will have a good size objective lens and lens coatings that not only protect the lenses but also help to reduce reflection and improve image quality.

Others Features

Some other features that are commonly found in military binoculars are a compass and a rangefinder. A compass can come in handy for obvious reasons and a rangefinder can be very useful as well. As long as you know the approximate size of the object you are looking at the rangefinder will help you figure out exactly how far away that object is. This feature is useful not only in a variety of military applications but also in search and rescue and it is also useful for hunters to figure out how far away their game is and for backpackers and hikers to be able to tell how far away a particular obstacle or landmark might be.

It should be clear by now that military binoculars are incredibly rugged and durable and are built to the highest standards. The military needs their equipment to be incredibly reliable and this same durability and reliability is also appreciated by people using these binoculars in many civilian applications as well.
